Guides - Create class/course

Create class/course

Like all other services, class and course services must be created before they can be booked by customers. In addition to creating the service itself, a new calendar must often be created in which the class/course can be booked. The service itself can be created on the service overview that can be accessed under the menu item ‘Settings' -> ‘Services'.

At the bottom of the page you can create new services. If you have created multiple customer groups, you must choose which customer group you want to create the service in. This is done by choosing the desired customer group opposite ‘Show services for customer group'.

In order to create a new class/course service, you need to enter the name of the service. This could be e.g. ‘Spinning' or ‘Journalism course'. Please note that the name you write here is the name that the customer can see, when (s)he books the service. You then need to choose what type of service you want to create, in this case class/course. You then need to enter the price of the service and the duration of the service, book time. It is very important that you choose the correct time, as it is here you tell the system how long to book when the service is booked. Under ‘The customer sees' you have the option of determining what duration the customer should see when (s)he wants to book the service. By activating service links under Advanced Settings, you will be able to choose the type 'link', which enables you to activate links to a specific service, for example to a specific class / course. See the settings for Service link for more information.

Finally, you need to choose whether the service should be offered on all calendars or whether you want to add the service manually on the calendar that should offer the service. When the service is a class or course, it is recommended that you always choose to add the service manually, as the service normally should be offered on one calendar only (See below).

When you have entered the desired information, the service is created by pressing 'Create service'. The service has now been created! However, it is very important that you remember to change the settings of the class/course so that they match the desired. For instance, the class/course is by default created as consisting of one spot only which is rarely the case. The settings of the service are changed by pressing ‘Edit' under the column ‘Settings' opposite the class/course (See Settings for more information).

Please note! Once the service has been created, it is no longer possible to edit the duration of the service. If this is desired, a new service must be created after which the original can be deleted.

In addition to creating the class/course itself, the service must be linked to a calendar in which it can be booked. As a rule, it is recommended that a new calendar should be created for this purpose, e.g. for the service 'Spinning' a calendar named 'Spinning class' could be created. This should be done in order to avoid errors.

When the new calendar has been created, you must remember to set the working hours of the calendar. The working hours should be created so that they match the time you want to offer the class/course at exactly. For instance, if you want to offer a spinning class every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 PM to 5 PM, you create working hours that are operative on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the interval 4 PM to 5 PM.

Please note! The duration of the service must be able to be placed within the working hours of the calendar. For instance, a service with a duration of 50 minutes cannot be placed in a calendar if the calendar is open for 45 minutes only.

It is important that you only create the working hours that you need. If working hours have been created with a duration of 2 hours, but the class/course has a duration of one hour, customers will be able to book the class/course at different starting times.

When the working hours have been created, you must remember to activate the class/course on the calendar in question. This is done under the settings of the calendar.

The class/course is activated by ticking the box 'Active?'. Remember to press ‘Update'. The class/course is now active and can be booked. The class/course is automatically booked in this calendar.

Please note! Remember to deactivate any other services that may be active on the calendar!
