Guides - Holiday / Closed

Holiday / Closed

In GECKO Booking, you can close for bookings on certain dates or for longer periods by using the 'Holiday / Closed' feature. You can close one calendar or all calendars at once. This could be used if you want to be closed for holidays.

Please note that a closure cannot be undone! If mistakes are made or if the holiday plans are changed at a later time, a manual opening of all calendars must be made. When you close a date or a period using this feature, the closure is implemented by creating an internal booking that prevents bookings from being made.

In order to close a date, choose which calendar to close. It is possible to close the date on one particular calendar or on all calendars at once. Choose a start date, the date from which you want to close the date, and an end date, the date to which you want to close the date. If you want to close one day only, the same date is entered in both spaces. You then have the option of deciding whether the closure should apply to a certain period only. Be default the entire day is closed, i.e. from 00:00 to 24:00. If desired, you can write an internal remark about the closure that can be used for later reference, e.g. the reason for the closure.

If you tick the space 'Remember?', the date will be closed on all newly created calendars automatically. This feature can be used for e.g. holidays or closing days.

Press ‘Close date' and the date has been closed on the chosen calendar(s)!

Under 'Automatically closed dates' you can see which dates you have chosen to close automatically on all newly created calendars. It is not possible to change these dates, but you can delete them by ticking ‘Delete' and then pressing 'Delete ticked'. Please note that this deletion only affects newly created calendars. The date remains closed on all calendars on which the date is already closed, but it is no longer closed automatically when a new calendar is created.

Please note! If you have activated the use of work types, your options at this page will be different. Instead of a closure being implemented by creating an internal booking, the closure is now implemented by creating working hours with a work type of your choosing, e.g. holiday or time off. Please note that the use of work types requires the purchase of the Cash Register Add-On (See the guide Cash Register Add-On for more information).

You also have the option of subscribing to holidays. The holidays you subscribe to will be closed automatically on all calendars every year. By subscribing to holidays, you no longer need to worry about closing holidays in your calendars or holidays that fall on different dates every year. Tick the desired holiday(s) and press ‘Update'. The holidays have been closed in your calendars. Please note that if bookings have already been made on the holidays, these are not affected by the closure. If you want to keep the date entirely closed, you must contact the customers manually and move the bookings to another day.

Subscribing to holidays is free!
